I don't remember Wednesday, the day of my surgery.
I went under general anethesia at 10AM; the operation lasted 5-1/2 hours. Terry was there after the operation and tells me the first
thing that my blood splattered body said was "I'm hungry". I only have vague awareness until 3am Thursday morning when I awoke to a
driving thirst. The Critical Care Nurse gave me a spoon of ice. It tasted wonderfull. I continued in and out of awareness for several
hours and was always totally thirsty. I'm finally released to the general cardiac unit around 10am.
As you can see I still have an appetite and, unbelievably, little pain.
And yes, my beard has been shaved where it could come into contact with the insision in my chest.
