Flying with Brother Terry

Flying with Brother Terry; Page-1

This little airplane, a Cessna 150, is what we flew our adventure in. And a sweet machine it was purring along the whole route.

We took off from Arlington (Wa.) Airport about 9am on a beautiful, clear, still morning and headed East toward Darrington. Our intention is to follow the Mountain Loop Highway through the North Cascade Mountains.

Heading up Hwy-530 towards Darrington into a light ground fog and beauty. We knew that we had 'hit it' right from the start.

Passing White Horse Mountain just before Darrington brought back memories. Terry and I had attempted to climb this peak many years before but were defeated by its steep approach; and I almost blacked out after being stung by two bees. That was my third unsucessful climbing attempt on this peak.

Pilot Terry Higman is in complete and calm control. I didn't get at all worried until he told me that we had to be careful about going into deadend canyons because we couldn't back out!
